Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery

If you are in Birmingham for the LD conference be sure to drop into the museum.

Apart from a good collection of pre-raphaelite dreadfulness it has an excellent collection of British art including some interesting late C20 work. There is currently an exhibition of a bequest from a former curator which has a brilliant Paolozzi print (amongst other works) showing his ability to make organic patterns out of mechanical shapes.

The galleries on Birmingham glass and ceramics are worth visiting too.

I didn’t have time to go to the story of metal exhibition but I have heard good reviews of it.

There is also a penguin picture, of which more later…
